Leaving Romania

After receiving papers, dad and Artur were sent to Cariova for about six months where several key and eventful events happened, one of which was the surrender of Germany. But to young Poles across Europe the War was far from over. Russia was exerting its influence and now occupying Polish territory. Meanwhile, General Patton's Army was in control of Western Europe, that is where dad and Artur were now headed,

As for my farewell from Romania, it was actually somewhat emotional and heartfelt,

Picture
Ionel and his lovely wife Oana picked me up 5 am to drop me off at the train station, walked me right to my seat. Was a bit emotional.

I will also miss The Old Town sport of watching attractive women walk down the street in fashionable dresses, high heels, and the scent of expensive perfumes. I asked Anika if I could take her photo, she was kind enough to suggest we have it taken together. I'm afraid I ruined the photo.

Next stop is Budapest. Then Vienna, where i will backtrack and share dad's adventures before Romania. After that, I'll pick up from where he left Romania. Italy beckons.

I look forward to meeting up again and having Oana join us for a dinner at Mignon. And we can discuss a few pages from my book... It will take place in Craiova, a party following German surrender, and you will both be represented:)
